How
To Ride
the Va Creeper Trail
The Virginia Creeper Trail
Region, which covers the small picturesque communities of
Damascus, Abingdon, Whitetop, Konnarock, Green Cove,
Taylors Valley, and Alvarado, has many wonderful
attractions to offer and has become one of the most
popular tourist destinations in the East. The area, settled over
200 years ago by very adventurous folks, is still the
perfect playground for anyone with an adventurous
spirit.
The Virginia Creeper
Trail is possibly the easiest, prettiest mountain
bike ride you will ever encounter. The Va Creeper
Trail, which is actually the "retired" railway
corridor of the Virginia - Carolina Railroad, has a
gently descending grade and well-groomed surface, lending
itself perfectly to downhill adventures, the Virginia
Creeper Trail is an attractive mountain-bike ride for
cyclists of diverse abilities. Most folks prefer to drive to
Damascus (the "Heart of the Creeper") and shuttle
to Whitetop Station the highest point on the trail
to begin their 17 mile descent to Damascus. The
eastern section travels downhill through the Jefferson
National Forest in the Mount Rogers National
Recreation Area and along the Whitetop Laurel Creek
(bring your fishing pole).
Folks also enjoy shuttling to Abingdon and
riding the 17 mile section of trail to Damascus. The
western section descends slightly to Alvarado and then
continues to Damascus.
We offer regularly scheduled bicycle shuttle service for
families, individuals, and groups to the top of the Creeper
Trail (and many points along the way). Just give us a call or
e-mail us and we'll take care of everything. Bring your camera
because you won't want to miss anything! Read

Relax and enjoy your visit!
